Birmingham is coming alive and becoming more and more welcoming to families, young adults, and business professionals alike! There is a refreshing energy here supported by a holistic approach to the urban experience that includes locally owned eateries and fine dining, upscale lofts with city scape views, grocery shopping and Farmer’s Market, Railroad Park green space for leisure and exercise, Zyp BikeShare sponsored by Regions Bank and a restored rotary trail starting at 20th Avenue, to name just a few of the developments that are revitalizing the Magic City.
Just 2 blocks away from our Photo Studio Parkside, stands the Rotary Trail in the Magic City sign, marking the beginning of the greenway. The landmark is a replica of the iconic “Birmingham The Magic City” image.
E.M. Elliot designed and constructed the original “Birmingham The Magic City” structure in 1926 over the Terminal Railroad station, but due to poor maintenance the sign was taken down in 1952.
With the new expansion of the downtown bus and railroad stations, the rotary sign was offered to be reconstructed in an effort to mix a little bit of old Birmingham in with the new. The rotary trail connects to Railroad Park and extends to the Sloss Furnace.
The heart of downtown is steadily growing with the Rev Birmingham project and bustling with new shopping and seemingly endless entertainment venues from the new Regions Field to the historic Alabama Theatre.
2b|Photography is thrilled to centered amidst the growth, right across the street from Railroad Park. We are perfectly positioned to serve the residents of this great city and surrounding Greater Birmingham areas.
If your live, work or are visiting in the Magic City, and find yourself on First Avenue South, we hope you’ll come in to the studio to say hello!
